Venezuela, Orchid Paradise - Armitano Editores - 1998

$150.00
Venezuela, Orchid Paradise. Published by Armitano Editores in 1998. Text by Gustavo Romero.

When the author arrived in Venezuela from England more than 38 years ago, he was impressed by the strength, beauty, and diversity of the exuberant tropical vegetation that he encountered. From the beginning, he showed great interest in the fascinating complexity of the attractive flowers of the orchid plant. In his enormous task and laborious quest he covered endless paths and territory through the forests of Venezuela. There, along with other Venezuelan and foreign botanists, he collected and discovered numerous orchids of extraordinary beauty that culminated in the publication of many books that today fill the nation with pride. From the innumerable photographs in his files, he chose 60 species for this book, that demonstrate graphic-photographic talent side by side with his avocation as a botanist. Without any doubt the reader will find a sufficiently well-selected diversity of the most attractive orchids in Venezuela. This is a publication of great taxonomic value, of high quality printing - the trade mark of the extraordinary publisher, Ernesto Armitano.
4to hardcover with dustjacket. 364pp with 760 color photographs. Very good condition. Jacket covered in mylar. No tears. Interior is bright and free from interior marks or foxing. A very nice copy.
