St. Evremont (1613-1703) was exiled in 1663 for criticizing Mazarin's treaty with Spain, and spent the rest of his life in the English court.
He is buried in Westminster Abbey.
8vo, 2-volumes bound in modern full brown morocco. Gilt titles on spine with raised bands. 1st English edition. VG condition, and beautifully bound. Some tanning to pages with age. Binding is secure.
